Location and amenities
 
The villa is in the hills about 20 minutes drive north of Lucca, between Diecimo (near Borgo a Mozzano) and Pescaglia. It is a good, wide and gently rising road, not a mountain road at this point.
The property is off the main road along a woodland road, very quiet, less than a mile from the village of Piegaio where there is a very good restaurant, bar, grocery shop, butcher, pharmacy and post office.
There is a railway station in Diecimo (10 minutes) with good links to Lucca and Pisa, (and up the valley to the north), a bank, petrol station, restaurants and shops. Borgo a Mozzano is the nearest town, 15 minutes drive, with all amenities and the historic Devil's Bridge.
Getting there
Getting to the house is easy: from Pisa airport you join the motorway directly from the airport and exit at Lucca, follow the main route through Lucca and along the valley to Diecimo, then 10 minutes into the hills - no 'nail-biting' roads.
It takes about 70 to 90 minutes, depending on the time of day and congestion in Lucca. There is a large and very good supermarket on the way, between Lucca and Diecimo, open until 9pm in summer - the ideal place to stock-up on food as it is only about 20 minutes from the villa.
Approx. 2 - 2.5 hours drive from Genoa airport, 1.5 hours from Firenze (Florence airport). A car is essential - we normally use Holiday Autos rental.
We have plotted the ideal route from Pisa airport (Galileo Galilei Airport) to the villa in the map window below. We recommend you follow this route as many satellite navigation systems will plot a shorter, yet slower, route through the 'nail-biting' mountain roads!
